HERITAGE CERTIFIED FOR FOREST-FRIENDLY PRINTING
Heritage has achieved Chain-of-Custody certification under
the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) system.
The certification enables Heritage to offer customers the choice to
print on paper that originates in responsibly managed forests.
According to Heritage president David DeLana, business
owners are becoming more and more aware of dwindling natural resources, and one
of the many ways to ensure that they are not contributing to the problem is to
purchase FSC certified papers. FSC
monitors the use of forests in a manner that will ensure that the resource is
replenished, that Old Growth forests are not depleted, and that a chain of
custody can be established and monitored from logging to end user.
The chain-of-custody certificate recognizes the high
standards and reliability of Heritage’s paper-materials handling
processes. The five-year certification
included comprehensive facility audits by independent third-party certifiers to
determine that Heritage has the necessary control systems to track certified products
throughout their inventory and distribution processes. At the end of five years, the company will be
re-audited to maintain its certification.
As a Chain of Custody certified printer, Heritage is
entitled to apply the FSC’s “checkmark-and-tree” trademark logo to projects
printed on FSC-certified paper. Heritage
is only the third printer in Oklahoma
to achieve certification.
“The FSC Chain of Custody certification reflects Heritage’s
commitment to environmentally friendly manufacturing practices,” DeLana
says. “With this certification we can
provide our customers an additional option to help reduce the environmental
impact of their printed materials. And
they can be confident that when they ask for FSC certified paper, they will
receive it.”
